Job scam is on the increase in Taraba State to the extent that fraudsters are offering teaching jobs to unemployed people at the cost of N300, 000 per person, authorities have said.

The Executive Secretary State Primary Education Board, Mr. Yakuba Agbaizu, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing. He alleged that syndicates with the connivance of some staff of the board were offering appointment letters to desperate job seekers at the cost of N300, 000 and above.

He said the board had uncovered fake names on the payroll of teachers and that effort was being made to remove them. 

“There was a primary school in Kona Village where the head teacher claimed to have 17 teaching staff, but during inspection only three teachers were met on duty.”

The executive secretary further stated that it was later discovered that 42 teachers were on the payroll of that school.

He accused education secretaries and some account staff of the board of conniving with head teachers to run a cartel, from which they make millions of naira from job scam.
