For those worrying about the not too impressive performances of Eagles in its recent games, West reiterated that this is not the best time to talk about the team’s weaknesses as he said such energies should be expended on finding ways of supporting the team to qualify for the mundial.

He noted that it good advices on how to correct the lapses in the team should be forwarded to the appropriate authorities just as maintained that too much criticism would make the players loose self confidence.

West opined that with the introduction of new players into the team, the Super Eagles would surely perform better in their subsequent matches.

He, however observed that it would take a long time for the vacuum created by the exit of some of the experienced players to be filled.  

The former Inter Milan said “it is not an easy task to expect these set of players to perform creditably as they are bunch of players coming from different clubsides to form a team. It will take some measures such as playing matches together before we can say we have a standing national team as was the case in our time”.

West therefore charged Nigerians to pray for the team in their daily prayers so that none of the players would sustain injury be it minor or major as he said that would be the only obstacles to better performance expected of them in their next game against Tunisia.
