The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the Federal Capital Territory, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has expressed confidence in the ability of the present FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to transform the nation’s capital.

The chairman, who was reacting to the proposed property tax by the FCT Administration, said he was of the belief that the minister would use any money he raises to develop the FCT.

Maikalangu, who spoke during an interactive session with some newspaper editors in his office, said the impact of Wike-led administration was already being felt in term of infrastructural development.

‘’The property tax, will bring more money for the Administration and it will be like get money from the people and give it back to them in term of infrastructure and good governance

‘’You can see many abandoned projects are being resuscitated and you can see contractors getting back to various abandoned projects just few weeks he assumes office,’’ he said.

The chairman, who sought for harmonious working relationship with the media, said most of the council’s projects were in the rural communities.

He said contrary to the public belief that AMAC is only made up of Asokoro, Maitama, Garki, Wuse and other developed districts, there are many rural communities without roads, water, electricity, clinics, schools among others, which the council has to attend to.

He assured that his government would do everything possible to make lives meaningful to the rural dwellers.
