The local childbirth care providers known as traditional birth attendants (TBA) and auxiliary nurses in the Osun State have been warned against indulging in female genital mutilation (FGM).

The Reproductive Health Coordinator at the state Ministry of Health, Mrs Toyin Adelowokan and the Gender Desk Officer at the State Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs, Mrs Olufunmilola Adewale gave the warning at a capacity building for TBAs and auxiliary nurses in Osogbo, the state capital.

The AHI Programme Officer, Mrs. Arinola Alabi said the training will help in the reduction of FGM practice by any category of health care provider.
