The management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has alerted on plans by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to picket its offices on Monday over labour issues.
Daily Trust reports that TCN manages the national electricity grid which was fully restored at the weekend after a major disturbance that caused outages.
The picketing could cause outages, but the company has urged its workers to remain calm to ensure seamless work process.
TCN denied claims by TUC in a statement that there was industrial disharmony in the company.
The branch President of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC), TCN Branch, Comrade Abidemi Dairo on May 1 told Daily Trust that there was no labour issue in TCN as the workers lauded management for raising transmission grid to 8,100 megawatts (MW).
TCN in a statement by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Sunday said the TUC protest may be sponsored by the National President of SSAEAC, Chris Okonkwo having lost the support of TCN staff after they discovered he mismanaged their N500 million super-annuation fund and the monthly subscriptions from members of the Association which the EFCC was investigating.
TCN management called on staff to ensure they remain law-abiding amid the unwarranted provocation.
