TCN at 20: AbdulAziz bags public service award

As the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) marks its 20th anniversary, Engr. Sule AbdulAziz, the Managing Director of TCN, has been honored with the Public Service Award by the Public Service Accountability Watch.

In a statement, the organization said this recognition is a culmination of an extensive 3-year evaluation of his exceptional leadership and service since his confirmation on April 4th, 2022, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Over the past three years, Engr. AbdulAziz has led TCN to unprecedented growth and improvements in Nigeria’s power transmission network. Under his stewardship, TCN successfully expanded grid capacity to transmit up to 6,000 megawatts, with key projects including the construction of new substations, the upgrade of existing infrastructure, and the completion of multiple critical line reconductoring and transformer projects,” the statement said.

It added that, “His resilience in the face of challenges, along with his commitment to enhancing grid stability and modernizing the power sector, has solidified his place as a trailblazer in Nigeria’s energy industry. With initiatives such as the introduction of advanced monitoring systems and strategic partnerships like the Presidential Power Initiative, Engr. AbdulAziz has ensured that TCN plays a key role in the sustainable development of Nigeria’s power sector.

“As TCN celebrates 20 years of excellence in power transmission, this award is a fitting tribute to Engr. AbdulAziz’s unwavering dedication and transformative leadership. His efforts continue to strengthen TCN’s commitment to ensuring reliable, efficient, and sustainable power for the nation’s growth and development.

“In conclusion, we want to deeply thank and appreciate all the management staff and field staff of the TCN for making it worthy of the organization to be a world class agency. We believe with this team work the stage is set for a sustainable power developments in Nigeria. The award presentation comes up in April.”
