Teach your children Quranic knowledge, Muslims urged

Muslim parents have been advised to ensure their children acquired knowledge of the Qur’an.

The Chairman of Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, the wife of the state’s Deputy Governor, Prof. Amdalat Olaniyan and the Director of Ali Institute for Qur’an Memorisation (AIQM) Ali Abdussalam, gave the advice at the institute’s 2nd Quran memorisation graduation ceremony in Ibadan.

They said teaching children Quranic knowledge would help reduce corruption and insecurity in Nigeria.

Sanni, in his remarks, said inculcating Islamic knowledge in children would help address the security challenge facing the country and boost its image in the comity of nations.

He also called on Muslims to invest their resources to promote Islam and shun frivolous spending.

Wife of the deputy governor linked most social vices, like corruption and insecurity, to lack of fear of God and failure to follow the dictates of the religion.

Director of the institute, Abdussalam, urged Muslims to acquire both western and Islamic education.

He said the knowledge of Islam would inculcate the fear of Allah in an individual and help to eradicate all social vices like corruption, insecurity, among others in the country.
