Policemen in Lagos have arrested a teacher, Preye Joseph, for allegedly stealing six bottles of perfume and a wristwatch valued at N140,000 from the home of a medical doctor.

Police prosecutor, Sgt. Lucky Ihiehie, said the complainant, Opeyemi Adewole, a house help to the medical doctor told the police that at 11:30 a.m., the accused knocked on the door to their apartment asking of her boss.

He said after being accosted by a neighbour on his way out of the compound, the bag of the accused was searched and six bottles of perfume and a wristwatch belonging to the house help’s boss were recovered.

He said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).

The accused, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties whose addresses must be verified and thereafter adjourned the case to December 5.
