Education quality is improved when teacher development programs are enhanced, Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Hamid Bobboyi, has said.
Dr. Bobboyi made the remarks at a meeting with the chairmen of State Universal Basic Boards (SUBEBs) in Abuja. He said improved teacher development programs enhance quality learning, adding that the commission would give priority to teacher training.
“The quality of any educational system cannot, as the saying goes, rise beyond the quality of its teachers,” he said.
He said SUBEBs must ensure that teachers were well prepared and fully supported to discharge their responsibilities.
He said building a peaceful and prosperous society begins with putting in place responsive and inclusive system of education which takes care of the physically challenged.
