‘Teachers should acquire degrees in education’

Stakeholders under the aegis of the Society of Educational Administrators of Nigeria (SEAN) have said only licensed teachers with Bachelor’s degree in education should be hired by schools.

The National Coordinator, Babatunde Asenuga made this known at the maiden 2017 SEAN Conference titled: “Bridging the Educational Gap for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” held at the Lagos State University (LASU) Lagos.

He said said most teachers never underwent teacher training before being employed and thus become helpless in discharging their basic duties. He said certified teachers must obtain degree in education.
