Teachers have been urged to design and use approaches that will encourage learners to collaboratively solve interesting real world challenges.

The head of At-Tanzeel Schools, Lagos, Mrs. Azeezat Abinuwaye, at the 9th End of Session Lecture on ‘The 4th Industrial Revolution: Expectations, Implications and Effects on the Muslim Child’, stressed the need to have an education that develops human potential rather than machine; noting that education is at the heart of preparing the present and future generations to thrive.

According to her, an education system designed for an industrial economy that is now being automated requires transformation, from a system based on facts and procedures to one that actively applies that knowledge to collaborative problem solving.

“We will succeed by working alongside our machines rather than competing with them by programming them rather than being programmed by them,” she said.

The Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Imam Ridwan Jamiu, in his paper at the event stated that technology improved the life of humans but cautioned that people must not turn a blind eye to its unwanted effects.
