The Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS) has called for the teaching and establishment of Arabic and Islamic studies in primary and secondary schools across the country.
This is contained in the communique issued after the NATAIS National Executive Committee meeting held at the Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State, from October 7 to 9.

“There is an acute shortage of teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies in public primary and secondary schools in Adamawa State and a complete absence of the twin disciplines in Adamawa State University Mubi and Modibbo Adama University, Yola. The same is the case in some other states in the federation,” the communique jointly signed by Prof. Musa Adesina Abdu-Raheem, President; and Dr Muhammad Shariff Ramadan, Secretary, said.
On the 2023 general elections, the association asked the political parties to uphold the ethics of the campaign as enshrined in the Electoral Act to ensure peaceful conduct and enduring democracy in the country.
