Team Egba Ake emerged winner of the 2021 Kings’ Cup Invitational Golf Tournament in Abeokuta, Ogun State on Saturday, October 9.

The tournament which took place at the Abeokuta Golf Club, saw the Egba Ake team winning with 642 points. The tourney saw the four Egba Kingdoms of Ake, Owu, Agura and Oke-Ona uniting on the golf course.

Team Oke-Ona finished as first runners up with 599 points, while team Agura and team Owu wrapped up the tournament in third and fourth place in that order.

The top performer, Mr. Tayo Aderinto from team Egba Ake won a return ticket to any country of his choice from one of the sponsors, Kenya Airways. 

The tournament is aimed at fostering unity among the four Egba Kingdoms. The Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburi Babajide Bakre performed the ceremonial tee off to set the Championship underway.

Speaking to journalists at the closing ceremony, the Project Manager, Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Mr. Seyi Johnson said the Kings’ Cup will continue to enjoy the support of corporate bodies.

He said “All thanks to Rite Foods, Kenya Airways and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) for adding value, we look forward to a continuous partnership in the sporting industry.”
