Team Kano has continued to showcase its sporting prowess at the ongoing Agile Games, lighting up the indoor sports hall of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja with outstanding performances and determination.

The maiden edition of the Agile Games, a groundbreaking initiative by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with the World Bank, brought together students from across the country.

With the goal of celebrating and nurturing youth talent, the atmosphere has been electric since the opening day—filled with excitement, fierce competition, and high hopes.

“We’re proud to be part of this. This platform gives our students a chance to shine. It’s more than just games—it’s a movement.

“We have seven different student groups here. It’s about connection—building friendships and networks that might shape future collaborations,” Mustapha Aminu, Kano State special project coordinator for the Games said.

Among the standout stories was that of the Kano State volleyball team. Though their opening match ended in defeat, the team rallied, finishing second in their group.

“We came back stronger. This isn’t just a tournament—it’s part of our journey,” said Samir Tijani, captain of the team.

Tijani credited the Agile management team for their immense support. “They took care of us and kept our spirits high. I’ve won medals before, and I believe I’ll win more here—Insha’Allah.”

In the First Round, team Kano (volleyball boys) defeated team Katsina 25:19 and defeated them again in the second round 25:10. Kano 25 vs Katsina 19 to finish second overall to win silver.

The men’s basketball team performed better as they finished tops to win gold ahead of Plateau and Ekiti states.

The event received strong backing from the state sports ministry, which ensured smooth travel and logistics for participants. Their encouragement and prayers, according to organizers, meant the world.

With plans to make the Agile Games an annual tradition, the vision is clear: foster unity, celebrate talent, and inspire dreams as the first edition began on a high note, with teams competing in various sports.
