Team Nigeria Tennis is set to compete at the 2025 African Youth Games taking place in Luanda, Angola, from December 10 to 20, 2025.

The contingent, made up of four junior players and their coach, has concluded its final training camp in Abuja and will depart alongside other Nigerian athletes for the continental event.

The players representing the country are Goodnews Aina and Khadijat Mohammed in the girls’ category, and Oluwaseun Ogunsakin and Ikenna Prosper Okonkwo in the boys’ category, led by Coach Akinwumi Ogunsakin.

The squad has undergone intensive preparations in readiness for the tournament, where they will compete against some of Africa’s top emerging tennis talents.

President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, extended his best wishes to the young team, expressing full confidence in their ability to excel.

He noted that the athletes have shown exceptional commitment and urged them to remain focused, disciplined, and professional throughout the Games.

Ochei also lauded the National Sports Commission (NSC) for its support, particularly in ensuring adequate logistics and welfare for the athletes.

As Team Nigeria Tennis heads to Luanda, expectations are high that the players will deliver strong performances and uphold the nation’s reputation in continental youth sports.
