The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has temporarily suspended its ongoing recruitment exercise into key paramilitary agencies following widespread technical glitches that disrupted access to the portal.

The affected agencies include the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service (NFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

The portal, which went live on July 14, was intended to receive applications from eligible Nigerians seeking to join the services.

However, just two days after its launch, applicants began experiencing repeated login errors, failed submissions, and difficulties navigating the system.

The development prompted the board to temporarily shut down its portal.

Announcing the development in a statement on Wednesday, AM Jubril, Secretary to the Board, said the decision was taken to address the technical issues and enhance the functionality of the platform for a seamless experience.

“The suspension is necessary to allow for urgent system upgrades and to ensure the recruitment process is conducted in a fair, transparent, and accessible manner,” the statement noted.

According to the board, the portal will reopen on Monday, July 21, after the necessary adjustments are completed.

The suspension followed a surge of complaints from frustrated applicants who flooded social media with reports of failed attempts to complete their submissions.

Many said the portal repeatedly returned them to the homepage after inputting their National Identification Number (NIN) and other required details.

“I’ve been on the site since 3:30am, but once I input my NIN, it says Error 405 and kicks me back to the beginning,” one applicant wrote on X.

The CDCFIB had earlier issued an advisory assuring applicants that the glitches were being addressed and that new updates were being integrated to improve navigation and system performance.

This is the third public notice issued by the board since the recruitment process began, reflecting the extent of technical setbacks experienced in the short time the portal has been active.

Despite the hiccups, the board reaffirmed its commitment to giving every qualified Nigerian a fair chance to serve the nation through the paramilitary services.

It urged applicants to remain patient and prepare to resume their application process once the portal becomes accessible again.
