The phone dealers are not happy with Tecno over certain business relation matters which the management of the China mobile phones manufacturers claim ignorant of.
Tecno is also accused of inviting Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to raid popular Computer Village, Otigba market, Ikeja of fake mobile phones hereby disrupting smooth running of business activities of some phone dealers and that the company is controlling the market excessively.
The Deputy General Manager, Tecno Nigeria, Mr. Chidi Okonkwo, said the brand has started experiencing bitterness against the brand from members of Phone Dealers Association of Nigeria.
Okonkwo who denied these allegations disclosed that Tecno cannot dictate to any regulatory agency on how and when to do its statutory duty.
He said, “All these allegations are not very correct, recent event that we have seen with our phone dealers is something we didn’t expect and we feel these are issues we felt can address s just that we haven’t had the opportunity or a platform to do that.”
He stated that the company believes that there is no problem between the Phone dealers association and Tecno noting that these dealers are trade partners to the brand and the company is committed to maintaining good relationship with them.
Okonkwo explained that it was surprising to see some representatives of the dealers association two weeks going round stores at the Otigba market to remove Tecno signages and stickers without an official communication to Tecno’s management on what the problems were.
He said despite this bitterness against the brand, Tecno is of the opinion that the association was trying to show its grievance to Tecno but this could be better achieve ina round table discussion.
