Kabiru told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in the state capital that the quarter final encounter in the male category was very difficult.

“The support I enjoyed from the fans throughout the game ensured victory for me. The crowd kept cheering till the end of the match,’’ he said.

Earlier, unseeded Tolu Olatunji created an upset to beat his opponent 2/6, 6/4, 6/4 in the other quarter-final game.

Christopher Edward eliminated seventh seed Linus Paul of Kaduna State 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to qualify for the semi-final.

In the U-14 Girls category, Niger’s second seed, Rebecca Kwange, advanced to the medal zone at the expense of  seventh seed Esther Olakoju of Bayelsa winning 6-4, 6-3.

Emmanuel Sunday of FCT eliminated Ahmed Muhammed of Taraba 6-2, 6-3 in the Boys U-14 category. (NAN)
