A teenage girl, who allegedly hacked her father to death, has been remanded in prison with her mother, who allegedly conspired with her in the act.
An FCT High Court in Apo was told yesterday that the teenager and her mother, both firewood sellers of Karavan Village Bwari, Abuja, allegedly hacked Kusha Kure to death at their home in Karavan.
Police prosecutor Fidelis Ogbobe told the court that the alleged offences were committed on March 10.
He told the court that the teenager committed the crime because the deceased was against her marital plans with her 24-year-old boyfriend.
He said the offences contravened sections 97 and 221 of the Penal Code, with culpable homicide punishable with death sentence under the law.
When the charges bordering on conspiracy and culpable homicide were read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty.
Upon their pleas, the trial judge, Justice Idris Kutigi, ordered that they be remanded in Suleja prisons and adjourned the matter to September 19 for hearing.
