The police have arrested a teenager, Abdulasisi Owoyemi, for allegedly robbing staff members of a petrol station at Okokomaiko, Lagos State.
The 18-year-old suspect was alleged to have stormed the Luri filling station, along Igbo-Okoko, in Okokomaiko, along with three other members of his gang and demanded for the day’s sales proceeds from the manager.
It was learnt that the police at the Okokomaiko Police Division allegedly got wind of the attack while the operation was ongoing.
Though nobody died during the attack, witnesses said that three guards attached to the filling station sustained severe injuries.
The Lagos State police spokesman, Bala Elkana, who confirmed the attack, said that on May 10, 2019, at about 2.21am, the Okokomaiko police station received a distress call that some hoodlums were operating at the Luri filling station.
Elkana said that policemen drafted to the scene arrested Abdulasisi Owoyemi of Magbon Town, Badagry.
“One locally made double-barrel gun and five stolen phones were recovered from the suspect. Investigation is ongoing, while efforts are in place to track down other fleeing members of the gang. The suspect will soon be charged to court,” he added.
