Detectives  from the Lagos State Police Command has commenced investigation into the death of one Tope Diya, 21,who allegedly committed suicide  recently  at the Agege area of the state.
The teenager, who until his death resided at number 5 Ademolu Street, at the Oko-oba, Agege.
He was said to have hung himself on an aluminum frame to which he attached a cloth at his working place Oko-oba.
The reason why he committed suicide was yet unknown, his corpse was found by his brother Sule Wasiu, who resides at Agbado area of the state.
The  Lagos  State Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos,  said investigations have in the circumstances of his death.
She said, “The command is investigating a case of suicide of one Tope Diya of no 5 Ademolu Street, Oko-oba, aged 21 years.
“It was reported by his brother, S. Wasiu that he committed suicide by using a cloth to hang himself to an aluminum frame in his working place at Olayiwola Street Oko-oba.
“ He was found dead at about 7.00a.m. The command operatives from Oko-oba visited the scene and photographs were taken and the  corpse removed to mortuary for autopsy. The case is still under discreet investigation.”
But another suicide  attempt  by  one Halimat Adegoke,was aborted by operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
Halimat Adegoke, a mother of four,was said to have attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Third Mainland  lagoon with her 12-month-old baby,but her action was foiled by  a commercial taxi driver, who drew the attention of the RRS riders on routine patrol of the area.
During interrogation, Adegoke  confessed that she had trekked from Medina Estate in Gbagada to the Third Mainland, after she heard a voice calling out to her to come to the bridge and decided to obey the ‘prophetic’ calls due to the frequency of same.
The lady, who currently lives with her parents following a temporary separation from her husband,  has since been released to her relatives.
