A 17-year-old boy, Zayyanu Muhammed, has drowned in open water at the Titin Jajira community in Tofa LGA of Kano state.

This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the spokesman of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi.

The statement reads in part: “We received an emergency call from the Kurna Fire Station from one Mahmud Ibrahim at about 1pm that a teenager had drowned in open water and we sent our rescue team to the scene.

“Muhammed was brought out of the water unconscious but was later confirmed dead. We handed over his corpse to the Bachirawa Police Division.”
