Teenager to hang for robbery

An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to death by hanging for armed robbery and attempted culpable homicide.

The convict, Aliu Usman, of Baruwa Village, Airport Road, Abuja, was found guilty by Justice Danlami Senchi of an FCT High Court following the trial that lasted over three years.

The police charged Usman on two counts of culpable homicide on September 30, 2014.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Umoh Inah, told the court that the convict pretended to be a passenger and asked a motorcyclist to take him to Baruwa Village.

Mr. Inah said the convict thereafter attempted to snatch a Bajaj motorcycle from the rider, and that he brought out a knife and stabbed the rider, inflicting grievous injuries on his body. (NAN)
