The principal suspect in the killing of a teenager in Bauchi yesterday narrated how he stabbed another teenager with a sharp knife on the neck.

Abubakar Yakubu, the principal suspect was paraded in Bauchi, Thursday, alongside two others, Sulaiman Mohammed and Kabiru Mohammed over the murder of Abdussalam Danladi, an 18-year-old teenager in a dispute.

Speaking to journalists, 14-year-old Yakubu admitted that he was the one who brought out a knife and stabbed Abdussalam on the neck which led to his death.

He said a quarrel ensued between him and the deceased and afterwards, Sulaiman beamed his torchlight on Abdussalam’s face which led to hot verbal exchanges after which they tried to reconcile while others insisted that Abdussalam had to be taught a lesson.

“I joined in and the deceased hit me and he later apologised. But after that some of our friends insisted that we must punish him. We mobilised and met him somewhere and I brought out the knife which I took along and stabbed him on the neck which led to his death,” he added.

The other teenage suspect, Sulaiman Mohammed said that he also met his other friend fighting with the deceased and he joined them.

“There was nothing between me and the deceased, he was just fighting with my friends when Abubakar brought out a knife and stabbed him on the neck,” he said.

The Bauchi State Police Command through their spokesman, DSP Kamal Datti, said the command is investigating the matter and will arrest the remaining teenage suspects involved and bring them to court after investigation.
