Three teenagers who allegedly stole a motorcycle from a mosque have been remanded in a Children’s Remand Home following their arraignment before a Katsina chief magistrate’s court.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, said one Yusuf Abdullahi believed to be the sponsor of the teenagers is also in custody while another suspect identified as Badamasi is on the run.

Ado said the accused were charged for criminal conspiracy, theft, belonging to gang of thieves and “attempt to commit an offence, to wit receiving stolen property contrary to sections 97, 287, 306 and 95 of the penal code law.

He said the teenagers were apprehended with the motorcycle at Modoji village and have since confessed to the crime. He said they also confessed that Yusuf and Badamasi were their sponsors.

The motorcycle, valued at N70,000 and belonging to one Buhari Bello, was said to have been recovered at the point of sale for N15,000.

It was gathered that the motorcycle was whisked away while Bello was performing the evening (Magrib) prayer at a mosque in Dutsinma town.

The presiding magistrate, Fadila Dikko, adjourned the matter to March 29 for further mention.
