The Coach of Bayelsa United, Diepreye Teibowei, has blamed his team’s elimination in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup by CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on poor officiating.

The Aiteo Cup winners who won the first leg 1-0 in Yenagoa, were thrashed 4-0 on Saturday by the Tunisian giants in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the competition.

Chris Kouakou got the opening goal for the host in the 11th minute while Mohamed Ben Ali doubled the lead seven minutes later.

Aymen Harzi made it three for the hosts in the 27th minute before Firas Chaouat completed the rout with the fourth goal in the 39th minute.

In the second half, Bayelsa United fought hard and stopped CS Sfaxien from scoring more goals.

In his past match interview, Teibowei said though they lost to a better side, the referee from Algeria didn’t provide a level playing field.

“We lost to a side that took their chances in the first half to score four quick goals to demoralize us. But sincerely speaking, I am not happy with the way the referee handled the match. 

“But for CS Sfaxien, they are a good side. They score goals. We’ve learnt a lot of lessons from this,” he said.
