The National Telecommunications Subscribers of Nigeria (NATCOMS) has urged the new board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to tackle the myriad of problems in the country’s telecoms sector headlong, especially the proposed communication tax.
NATCOMS National President, Mr Deolu Ogunbanjo said with the new board in place, the NCC’s Executive Vice Chairman and the other managment staff of the commission could now tackle some critical issues affecting the sector like the proposed communications tax,  Right of Way (ROW) and multiple taxes charged by state governments.
Speaking with Daily Trust, Ogunbanjo said since 95 per cent of the board members are politicians, it would be easier to convince the state governors on the need for them to do what is right on ROW and stop multiple taxes.    
 Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye was recently named as the chairman of the NCC board. His appointment is generating controversy on the social media as he is said to be too old for the position. 
Others named along with Senator Durojaiye as executive commissioner and non-executive commissioners are: Sunday Dare (South west), Aliyu Sa’idu Abubakar (North East), Clement Omeiza Baiye (North Central), Chief Okoi Ofem Obono Obla (South South), Pastor Ezekiel Yissa (North Central) and Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (South East).
