A tenant identified as Jamila Ismail, last Friday evening, allegedly attacked her caretaker, Ahmad Mohammad Gbedako, with hot water over house rent at Old Kutunku area in Gwagwalada. 

The victim, while narrating the incident to our reporter on his hospital bed yesterday, said it happened at about 6:05 pm after he had a disagreement with the lady over house rent arrears.  

He said the accused who poured hot water on him had stayed at the house, but packed out since 2015.  

He explained that the lady returned that fateful day to remove a shanty she erected in front of the house and that he asked her to pay 18 months rent she was still owing. 

“So as I went to meet the other tenant who was also owing for six months, Jamila poured hot water at my back and I fell down and she started laughing at me,” he said. 

He said one of his brothers who was within the area came to the scene and rushed him to a private clinic where he is still receiving treatment. 

A younger sister to the victim who identified herself as Hadiza, told our reporter at the clinic that the accused and her accomplice have been arrested by the police after the incident was reported at Gwagwalada police divisional headquarters. 

When contacted, the Gwagwalada Divisional Police Officer (DPO) CSP Chuks Obasi, said he was only aware of an incident that a bean cake seller pour hot oil on someone and that the mater had been resolved.

“But this very incident you are talking about I am not aware of it but I am in the church right now, so let’s talk later,” he said.
