The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has commenced needs assessment of all estates within the council with a view to making necessary interventions. 

The council which met with estate owners and managers at the weekend promised to continue discussions on what will constitute the tenement rate following the understanding reached on the matter by both parties. 

The Vice Chairman, Lawrence Onuchukwu described the estate owners as critical stakeholders and would henceforth be carried along with the policies of the council as it relates to them. 

While urging the estate owners to consider the council as partners, he said the council operates an open door policy, adding that discussion would continue on the payment of tenement rate and the provision of amenities in all the estates. 

“Why government policies don’t work is because you don’t carry stakeholders along. From now on government will no longer jump into your estate without carrying your manager along. We must be on the same page,” he said adding that future policies would be heralded by a town hall meeting. 

The council’s head of the administration had informed the estate owners that the council has commenced a need assessment of the estates in a view to addressing their challenges.
