Tenger guided his wards to outscore Enugu Rangers 2-1 in the Federation Cup round of 16 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday.
An elated Tenger said his wards are gradually inching close towards realising their dream of playing in the final.
“The Federation Cup is my special area I always excel with teams I’ve tutored. I won it as Challenge Cup in 1997 with the then BCC Lions and runners-up in 2009 in charge of Gombe United, so I’m confident of repeating the feat with Akwa United in this year’s competition.
“My players have been showing tremendous improvement with each game, the game against Enugu Rangers was massive and was looking unpredictable and indecisive with few minutes until we grabbed the winner.
“Enugu Rangers are a consistent side in the Federation Cup unfortunately for them we had the edge.
“We’re unstoppable right now, we’ll surely be in the final and contest the title,” said the former Niger Tornadoes coach to supersport.com.
Tenger said his side are not going to lose sleep over their quarterfinals opponents, Heartland.
“At this stage of the competition I prefer playing big teams whose pattern is understandable and predictable, too.
“I like it bigger as the bigger they come, the bigger they will fall. We’re comfortable playing Heartland in the quarterfinals and I assure you they won’t be able to stop us,” Tenger said.
