Al-Amery said this at the weekend during an interview with Daily Trust over current happenings in Iraq as government forces continue battle rebels in parts of the country.
He, however, said that the condemnation of the terrorist attacks by the Nigeria government and the international community gave them courage that Iraqi democracy cannot be truncated and that they will win the terror war.
“There are terrorist groups that want to return Iraq to the dictatorial regime; they cooperated with the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham (ISIS). The terrorists want to stop the democratic process in Iraq through violence and terror, thereby targeting innocent people in mosques, churches, markets and schools, but they could not,” the envoy said.
Al-Amery said terrorist groups launched aggressive attack in the city of Mosul, northern Iraq, moved south towards Tikrit, adding that Iraqi forces managed to repel those terrorists on the outskirts of Tikrit area.
“Iraqi government re-organized its army, whom were supported by the forces of the Iraqi volunteers after the fatwa of the religious Sunni and Shiite references, regained control over some of the areas taken by the invading forces (terrorist academies),” he said.    
He accused the terrorist groups and their supporters of engaging in media propaganda, including the occupation of new areas with the intention to create fear and division among the citizens after Iraqi forces defeated the terrorists group in the battlefields.
