The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has initiated the fabrication of manufacturing tools at the Federal Polytechnic Bida in Niger State.
The rector of the polytechnic, Dr Abubakar Dzukogi, said so far TETFund has funded 28 of such projects in the institution with 45 staff members serving as principal fabricators and co-fabricators respectively.
He said the benefiting departments included Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Science Laboratory Technology, Computer Science, Building Technology, Quantity Survey and Survey and Geoformatics.
Some of the projects, according to him, were the Moringa Leaves Processing plant, Edu Dry Power Generator, Nail/Binding Wire plants, Concrete Mixing Machine and Tomato Paste Processing Plant.
Others, he said, were the Modified Keke NAPEP, African Locust Bean De-Pulping Machine, Animal Feeds Milling Plant, Palm Kernel Cracker, Bar Soap Production Unit, Hydraulic Log Splitter, Solar Powered Mobile Coldroom and Multi-Purpose Thresher.
