TETfund spends N15.3b on technical, vocational equipment

Speaking at a two-day capacity building workshop for laboratory technologists in TETfund benefiting institutions, Dr. Babayo, who was represented by Oladipo Salau, a senior official of the fund, said the workshop was organised to enhance the culture of maintenance of laboratory equipment procured for institutions by the fund.
He said between 2004 and 2007, the sum of N7billion was allocated to technical and vocational education sector.
He said: “A lot of intervention funds have been given to benefitting institutions to produce technical and laboratory equipments for laboratories and technical vocational education but most of these equipment are not being properly maintained.”
The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Bala Bridage said the essence of the training was to develop the capacity of the participants in view of new innovations in their fields.
Earlier, the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, had urged TETfund to erect a modern training centre in the North-west zone where participants can be trained annually.
