In March 2010, John Mendel, Honda North America, Executive Vice President for Sales, introduced the model year 2011 Acura TSX Sportwagon at the 2010 New York Auto Show. The Acura TSX Sport Wagon is touted as “the smart solution to an entry luxury buyer’s need for everyday utility and practicality”. The TSX Sport Wagon will maintain the sportiness of the Acura TSX sedan but have much greater utility, with far less initial purchase expense and subsequent operating cost than currently popular SUV and CUV models. Powered by the sedan’s 201 horsepower Honda K engine 2.4L DOHC inline four cylinder and suspended on the same four wheel independent sports suspension, the Acura TSX Sportwagon will offer the added functionality of a wagon, with the style, performance, luxury and efficiency of a well-balanced sport sedan.

The TSX was slated to receive a high performance 2.2-litre i-DTEC clean turbodiesel engine in the 2010 model year; however, it was later announced that Honda had abandoned its plans to bring diesel engines to the U.S. and Japan in favor of hybrid gasoline-electric powertrains. Rather it has been applied on the Accord models in Europe and are now known as the Type S models. Instead, a 280 hp 3.5-litre V6 will be available in the 2010 Acura TSX. The TSX V6 will only be available with the 5-speed automatic transmission.

The Acura TSX has a narrow price elasticity, as the base model 4-cylinder TSX is considered a good deal for a luxury car, however higher trims (particularly the V6 powered models) are considered too expensive as they compete directly with sport luxury cars such as the Audi A4 and Infiniti G

The Acura TSX Sportwagon will start at a price point slightly higher than the base TSX, and will come standard with a five-speed automatic transmission.

In Nigeria you will see the TSX as Honda Accord and some as Acura but what you must know they both share a lot in common and we would prefer it to the America specification.
