Even here on the continent, blacks in the Maghreb are consigned to the fringes of society. You only get to know that there are blacks in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Mauritania, etc only on the football pitch during international football competitions. And these are exceptionally talented persons; were it not so their faces would not be shown to the world. I expect that the campaign for the humanity, dignity, honour and respect of despised black people will be the number one agenda for the AU. But that, unfortunately, is not the case.
The AU and African leaders are too polite, too decent to be seen making noise about the ill-treatment of themselves and their people. I expect that the AU will be an organ like many organs of the Jewish people which rise instinctively to get anyone who tries to disparage the Jewish race. Today, it is almost an offence for anyone to dare suggest that 6 million Jews were not killed during the Second World War. Holocaust Denials, they are called, are punished in all manner of ways by powerful Jewish lobbies. Black abusers, on the other hand, are treated with respect and left to heap more insults on Blacks.
This reminds me of the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It is shocking and quite unfortunate that the Jews who are not ready to take any insult will have their leader say something so disparaging of Blacks and Arabs.  Last year, Netanyahu said the following about Blacks and the Arabs in a speech  he made to the Israeli parliament: ” We are not obliged even the least to try to prove to anybody and to the blacks and Arabs that we are superior people. We have demonstrated that to the blacks and Arabs in 1001 ways. The State of Israel that we know of today has not been created by wishful thinking. We have created it at the expenses of intelligence, sweat and blood…We do not pretend like other whites that we like the blacks. The fact that blacks and Arabs look like human beings, and act as such, does not necessarily mean they are sensible human beings. Hedgehogs are not porcupines and lizards are not crocodiles because they look alike.
‘’ If God had wanted us to be equal to the blacks and Arabs, he would have created us all of a uniform colour and intellect. But he created us differently: Whites, Blacks, Yellow, Rulers and the ruled. Intellectually, we are superior to the Blacks and Arabs; that has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt over the years. I believe that a Jew is honest, God fearing person, who has demonstrated practically the right way of being……By now every one of us has seen it practically that the Blacks and Arabs cannot rule themselves. Give them guns and they will kill each other. They are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives and indulging in sex. Let us all accept that the Blackman is a symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence. Isn’t it plausible? Therefore that the Whiteman is created to rule the Blackman……And here is a creature (Blackman) that lacks foresight…The average Black
does not plan his life beyond a year”.
As I said, this speech was made to the Israeli parliament nearly a year ago but I cannot recall reading even a tepid denunciation of it anywhere by an organ, such as the AU, that is created to champion the cause of the Black man. Silence to statements like this, means acceptance of the poisonous doctrine being canvassed. Hitler did not start killing the Jews and other so-called inferior races overnight. He conscientized his people to believe that the Jews and the others were inferior to his Aryan race which he said was created to dominate and rule over the world. Now Netanyahu, whose kinsmen and women were recent victims of a very toxic ideology is, ironically, the one who has begun a Hitleric diatribe against Blacks and Arabs. And the AU is letting him get away with such stupid nonsense.
I, Mr Idang Alibi, am a proper Black man and I do not believe for any single moment that I am inferior to any white or yellow-coloured person just because of my colour. I believe that there are some whites and yellow persons who may be more intelligent than me just as I am more intelligent than some white and yellow skinned persons.
We blacks have been abused and despised for so long that it looks like our leaders have grown so used to it and therefore see nothing wrong with our continued denigration and abuse. What we need now is an organisation that will be hypersensitive in taking on anyone who says or does anything that remotely suggests disrespect to any dark skinned person anywhere in the world.
