Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has signed into law, the 2022 budget passed by the State Assembly with a figure of N269.6 billion. The governor also signed two laws: Borno State Child Protection Act and Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act.
The signing took place on Monday at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri, and it was attended by the Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, and principal officers of the Assembly.

Standard Chartered Plc is closing about half its Nigerian branches in a pivot to digital banking, according to people familiar with the matter, as the finance industry comes under pressure from mobile money providers.
The London-listed lender’s local unit has already started to shut some offices in December and will eventually operate only 13 branches in the West African nation, a document seen by Bloomberg News showed, down from about 25 previously.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said the country’s identity database was not breached by hackers. Some social media users had reportedly said Nigeria’s identity database had been hit by cyber-attack.
But NIMC in a statement on Tuesday said its servers were not breached but are fully optimised at the highest international security levels as the custodian of the most important national database for Nigeria.
