2023: Jega, Utomi, Others Mobilise Against APC, PDP

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the quest by the promoters of a third force to sack the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.

While some see the moves by the promoters including a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, as a welcome development, others doubt the seriousness of the organisers in view of previous attempts.

Cholera Kills 2,791 In 28 States, Abuja In 9 Months – NCDC

Cholera has claimed 2, 791 lives in 28 states and the Federal Capital Territory, this year, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The NCDC, in a situation report released Tuesday, said a total of 81,413 suspected cases were recorded within the period.

Gombe Gov’t Suspends 901 Workers’ Salary For Absenteeism

The Gombe State Government has suspended the salaries of 731 civil servants in the state for ‘absenteeism’ from work in September, while 170 others are still under investigation.

The state’s Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji, disclosed this on Tuesday at the monthly press briefing on the implementation of the biometric attendance verification for civil servants in the state.

Coups Have No Place In Africa

Penultimate Tuesday, Sudan announced it foiled an attempted coup d’etat by troops from its Armoured Corps who tried to take control of a state radio station in Omdurman, across the River Nile from the capital, Khartoum.
