Investigations by Daily Trust reveals that bandits have begun peace moves with local communities in some parts of the North. This is coming as the dry season sets in and clearing of the bushes that serve as hideouts to bandits has also commenced.

A former governor of Kano State and leader of the G-7 faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has punctured the claims that he went to the meeting without the consent of other members of his faction, G-7.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, says 11 million Nigerians are likely to fall into poverty by the end of 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bandits Stranded, Make Peace With Communities

As the dry season sets in and clearing the bushes that serve as hideouts to bandits terrorising communities in parts of the North commenced, many of the assailants have begun peace moves with local communities to avert counter offensive against them, an investigation by Daily Trust reveals.

The gunmen had been particularly ravenous since the start of the rainy season some six months ago, launching ceaseless attacks on farming communities in parts of Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger states.

Two Gunned Down In Imo Community

At least, two people were reportedly killed and property worth millions of naira destroyed when gunmen invaded Etekwuru autonomous community in the Ohaji/ Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.

The incident was said to have occurred around in the early hours of Wednesday.

A former governor of Kano State and leader of the G-7 faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, has opened up on what he discussed with the National Leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Lagos on the crisis rocking the party in Kano State.

Shekarau also punctured the claims that he went to the meeting without the consent of other members of his faction, G-7.
