Thanks to a previously unknown junior officer in the Nigerian Army, Captain Sagir Koli, we now know how the last Ekiti State gubernatorial contest was rigged in favour of PDP’s Ayodele Fayose. The entire charade was superintended by Brig-General A.A. Momoh, commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade.
I have listened to Koli’s secret recording of the meeting were the rigging plan was hatched and I am truly ashamed of the level to which a senior military officer like Gen. Momoh has descended. The fact that the foursome gang comprising Obanikoro, Fayose, Omisore and Adesiyan could so ruthlessly bully Momoh to go against the constitution and commit an electoral crime speaks volumes about the absolute desperation of the ruling party and the demystification of the military. At the end of the hot exchanges between the puppet general and his puppeteers, they handed over a huge stash of cash to him and promised to expedite his promotion to the rank of major-general.  
Momoh delivered.
When and how did our army become this cheap? According J. Peter Pham, director of the Africa Centre at the Washington D.C.- based Atlantic Council, “Nigeria’s military has been in decline for the past 16 years, ever since the country moved from a military dictatorship to a democracy in 1999. The intervening years have seen the country’s armed forces hollowed out by a combination of poor leadership, graft, misdirected staff training and a succession of civilian governments so worried about another coup that they have starved the armed forces of key resources”.
Let’s be clear: We still have first class soldiers and officers in the Nigerian armed forces. But they have been largely consigned to redundancy. The stage is designed for players who have sold their souls to the devil. I am told that the said Brig-General Momoh is still serving in the Nigerian Army. Are we being told that the military are not yet aware of the crime the officer is alleged to have committed?
Realising that he had been stripped naked in the marketplace by the revelations of Koli, Momoh has been trying to cover his tracks. He is reported to have convened a Board of Inquiry (BOI) to investigate Captain Sagir Koli. The Board was expected to “investigate the circumstance that led Capt. SI Koli (N/12074) to abscond from his place of duty on 1 Aug 14 and still remain absent while deployed for security duty during the 2014 Osun State Gubernatorial Election.”
Expectedly, both Obani-koro and Omisore have denied ever being at the meeting. But their co-accused, Jelili Adesiyan admitted being at the meeting but added that there was no discussion about subverting the democratic process. Obanikoro has now been rewarded with a ministerial appointment for the second time. I hope the senate throws out his name.
As Koli voted with his feet when he realised that his life was in danger, Brig. General Momoh retaliated by authorising the illegal abduction and torture of Capt. Koli’s 15-year-old youn-ger brother, Adamu Koli who was illegally detained, allegedly tortured, starved, and chained to a bed in the military hospital at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment in Ado-Ekiti.
This country is in trouble. We had known all along that the PDP was desperate to do anything to remain in power. But it is now frightening to see the extent. Ayodele Fayose, the uncouth carpetbagger who has defrauded his way to power, will eventually be consigned by the courts to the dung heap from whence he came.
It is now easy to understand why PDP has been sponsoring ‘public affairs analysts’ to speak against the use of the Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC. The only way they can win the forthcoming elections is through massive rigging. Now that the Ekiti secret is out, it is no longer going to be easy.
Police AIG Mbu, who has been fanning embers of police/civilians clash in the South West, will eventually find himself holding the short end of the stick. I wonder, can’t this war monger be tamed by his IG? Or is he taking orders directly from Oga-at-the-top? There appears to be a link between the seige laid near Tinubu’s Ikoyi residence, Imo State Government House, Owerri, and Garba Shehu’s residence in Abuja. Programmed intimidation of the opposition?
I feel sorry for President Jonathan because he sur-rounds himself with empty barrels whose ethical poverty is so stark that their middle name might well have been ‘highwayman’. Although the president, by popular acclaim, has under-performed, what has really eroded his support base is his penchant for recruiting the dregs of the earth as his advisors and aides. Just the other day, Doyin Okupe, Senior Special Assis-tant to the president who had earlier compared Jonathan to Jesus Christ, went berserk in his anti-Buhari propaganda. Instead of promoting Jonathan his boss, his strategy was to denigrate the person of the APC presidential candidate, General Buhari.
“General Buhari is not electable and would not be elected by the grace of God. And why I am saying that is this, Nigeria would not have a president that has not gone to school. This is not going to happen. In Nigeria, it will not happen. In Nigeria it would not happen. Buhari will not be president”
The journalists were scandalised. As Okupe ranted on, they rose in unison and chorused “APC! APC!! APC!!!” Disgraced but not embarrassed (Okupe is beyond embarrassment because he was not at home on the day God distributed that capacity) he waddled his way out of the venue. That this was happening right within the State House spoke volumes about the extent to which the present administration has alienated the public with its lies and hate mongering.
The chickens are coming home to roost. I’m reminded of the Holy Book: “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; and a stone will come back on the one who starts it rolling.”
Ballot papers in Essex!
Why is a consignment of ballot papers for the 2015 presidential elections lying unsecured in the premises of a printer in Essex, Northeast London? Why didn’t INEC patronise local printers? Nige-ria we hail thee!
