The high rate of divorce

Marriage is a legal institution established to promote love, care, peace and tranquility. It’s also the best and legal channel for precreation. Gone are days that marriage is properly plan and maintain but the reverse is the case today whereby most of today’s youths marriage don’t see the light of the day.
Nowadays, many youths get married purposefully for material gain, to satisfy their sexual desire and to compete with their mates that are married. Therefore, when a minor problem arises it finally resulted to divorce. As such divorce becomes rampant in the society. The high rate of divorce in our society is worrisome. Proper measure need to be in place to reduce the rate of divorce drastically. However, in Sudan before a lady is given out for marriage, she would be taken to an old woman who had much experience on marital affairs to orient her on how to cook, beautify herself for her husband and how to chat with him. Also, she would be taught how to treat her husband with care and respect and also how to protect his property.
On the other hand, every major mosque in Sudan has a committee of marriage counsellors who are charged with the task of enlighten and educating the prospective husband about the rights and responsibility of his wife on him. It’s in the same mosque that the marriage ceremony will be conducted. After that, the marriage certificate will be issued to the couple while a copy of it would be kept with them for record. Whenever a critical problem arises between the couple, the case will be forwarded to those marriage counselors for resolution. If the problem persists, it’s the committee that will give the husband a command to divorce the woman after stating the genuine reason for the divorce in a written note and his signature. After that the marriage will be separated. If we borrow a leaf from the above Sudan marriage policy it would minimize the rate of divorce and consolidate marriage in our society.
Furthermore, funds that are allocated for mass marriage can be used for other meaningful projects. Parents should ensure that anybody that seeks the hands of their daughter in marriage is employed and financial stable to cater with the family. He or she should also possess a good character.
