He told a German website that he is currently working on the second script of the film and expects it to be ready early next year before the budget would be determined and lensing would commence.

Jackson is writing the script alongside Fran Walsh, Phillipa Boyens and Guillermo del Toro

The film is expected to be shot in New Zealand, where the Lord of the Rings was shot. The movie is a prequel to the Lord of the Ring and is based on the novel by JRR Tolkien.

Jackson, who, alongside Walsh, is also the executive producer of the film, decided to cash in on the success of the Lord of the Rings by producing the prequel with additional financing by major Hollywood studios, MGM and Newline Cinema.

No casting has been announced and it is not yet known if this delay would affect the earlier advertised release dates of December 2011 and December 2012 for the two films.
