My attention has been drawn to variety of Islamic Timings especially for the forthcoming Ramadan of the year 1440AH/2020AD late this week. Some of the timing tables were not even for Nigeria!!

It is, therefore, imperative for us to be conversant with and conscious of the accuracy of Islamic Ramadan Timing. Apart from the  five daily Salat timings, our Sahur (pre-dawn meal) and Iftaar (break fast at sunset), are all dependent on the timings of the localities we found ourselves. It is commendable to note that most Nigerian newspapers do publish the timings for some selected towns/localities’ specificities in guiding us during Ramadan. May Allah SWT reward them abundantly.

But apart from that, most of the Android/OIS phones and other GPRS compliant gadgets have Islamic Timing Applications (such as Athan, IslamicFinder etc)  that are either inbuilt or downloadable to indicate and guide us to such timing for the towns/cities we are living in or close to where we are living. It is important to note that even within Nigeria, the timings are NOT the same considering the inherently minor variations.

It is important we get accurate timings for all our numerous devotions, including those in Ramadan, always.

May Allah SWT favour us to be among those who would fast the Ramadan and worship Him most profoundly in this Ramadan and beyond. May He accept our ibaadah, forgive us and save the entire humanity and the whole world from the scourge of the novel COVID-19 pandemic.
