Capacity building is a cornerstone of effective service delivery, particularly within public sector organizations. By enhancing the skills, knowledge, and competencies of staff, institutions can improve their overall performance and ensure that they are better equipped to meet their objectives and serve the community.

In recognition of the critical role that capacity building plays, the Adamawa State Planning Commission recently organized a four-day in-house induction training for 25 newly transferred staff. These individuals were recruited from the Post-Primary Schools Management Board through the Civil Service Commission (CSC). This initiative underscores the importance of continuous professional development and the strategic deployment of human resources to address organizational needs.

The induction course aimed to enhance the knowledge base of the newly deployed staff, ensuring a smooth transition from their previous roles within the teaching service to their new positions at the State Planning Commission. Most of these staff members are senior employees and are economists by training. This strategic move not only addresses the staffing gaps within the Commission but also ensures that the technical expertise of these professionals is effectively utilized.

The Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, expressed her satisfaction with the induction programme. She highlighted that the staffing gaps previously experienced by the Commission are now being addressed. Furthermore, she emphasized that the technical capacity of the newly deployed staff will not be wasted on routine assignments, but they will contribute meaningfully to the development of Adamawa State as they embark on a different trajectory in their professional careers within the Planning Commission.

The Permanent Secretary, in his welcome address, congratulated the newly deployed staff and encouraged them to pay close attention to the mandates and objectives of the Adamawa State Planning Commission (ASPC). He urged them to follow these directives religiously to ensure effective service delivery. Speaking on behalf of the group, one of the newly deployed staff members, expressed their joy at being selected among many to be deployed to the Commission, where they expect to find their professional roots and direction within the Planning Commission. They praised the leadership of the Commission for their outstanding work in Adamawa State and beyond.
