Recently, bad roads in some areas of Kado Estate were reconstructed and all the residents were happy that their poor roads days were behind them. However this was not to be so, during the construction of the roads, the roads were already being patched in the middle. That fact alone raised eyebrows as it was a signal of the quality of the roads. Just a month after the construction of these roads, there are already potholes on some of them. It is no longer a surprise that contractors in Nigeria due to corruption and greed do not use the required quantity of asphalt in their construction works. Sadly because of this, it looks like the recently-completed road project will soon return to the terrible state it was before it was awarded. It is high time the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) blacklist companies and contractors that fail to execute projects to the required standard. This is not only on the Kado Estate road construction but all construction works in Abuja and Nigeria as a whole. Enough is enough!
