THE LAST GOOD BOOK I READ…

Salem Kalu (Photographer) There Was a Country by Chinua Achebe

Photographer Salem Kalu’s last good read was Chinua Achebe’s last published book, ‘There Was a Country’. “Because of the way I was brought up, I didn’t think like the way my peers thought. I Intend to see my country make headway, and that’s what the book is all about,” he said.

‘There Was a Country’ centres on the Nigeria-Biafra civil war and Achebe’s personal experiences during the period.

Kalu Describes himself as a ‘street photographer’ because he’s an impulsive photographer. He is a student of the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Abuja.
