Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
Author Oliver Iorkase thoroughly enjoyed reading Chinua Achebe’s classic, ‘Things Fall Apart’, a book he has read over and over again. What particularly drew his attention was Achebe’s descriptive powers.
“He captures Africa in such an elegant way that even if they say Okonkwo is drinking from a human skull, you feel it’s stylish, also, his ability to present his perspective of Africa in such a way that you don’t see it as barbaric but cultural,” he says. “I love the fact that he could tell stories, illustrate and there’s his use of rich proverbs. I think it’s a master piece.”
Oliver Lorkase has several unpublished plays. Recently, one dear to his heart, ‘The Journey to One’ was published. A cinematographer, graphic artist and video editor, he is passionate about reviving theatre in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
