The foundation which aimed at working with grassroots communities in Kebbi State and beyond has close relationships with other non-governmental organisations, including bilateral ones with federal and state ministries, departments and parastatals of healthcare, education and social welfare. ZADAF also works with corporate organizations within and outside Nigeria to strategize, plan and raise funds, and implement programmes purposely for the reduction of poverty to help especially the indigent women and children in rural communities.
The very mission of ZADAF is the reduction of women and children’s poverty alongside empowering them to build a healthy, prosperous, reliable, self-reliant, self-sufficient and just society. Such was designed to facilitate a better condition of living for all women and children particularly those living in abject poverty and misery in Kebbi State and elsewhere where it can make an impact.
In line with ZADAF’s stated goals of strengthening women’s capacity to at all times deal with basic problems affecting their daily lives, such as difficulties in raising children, poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, domestic violence, teenage pregnancies, ill-health and hate crimes, Hajiya Zainab Dakingari, the initiator of the foundation has made all efforts to provide women with the opportunity to empower themselves, especially in Kebbi State.
In order to reassure Kebbi State women and children that positive change can occur when beneficial programmes are implemented to bring about decrease in the level of pervasive poverty, Hajiya Zainab Dakingari has through ZADAF engineered a means of facilitating a better quality of life for them by providing work materials to over 1,300 trained women after their training. Some of the materials include tailoring machines, weaving and knitting machines, brocade (atampa) materials and small loans as take-off capital. ZADAF is in the habit of paying regular visits to hospitals to assist needy women and children with both cash and material assistance.
Through ZADAF, there have sprung also about six women cooperative societies in three senatorial districts that have boosted cottage industries and other small and medium enterprises and traditional trades.
