The students, Pyramid Trust observed were currently abandoned in Sudan without scholarship by the state government. Their situation, Sunday Trust learnt, was terrible to the extent that some of them could not afford to feed themselves three times in a day, let alone transport themselves back to Nigeria during holidays.

Although, they did not apply for their studies through` the state government, the affected students have appealed to the Jigawa state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, to as a matter of urgency come to their aid by sponsoring them to complete their studies.

Pyramid Trust gathered that the students’ condition was terrible, as according to reports the affected students are currently not benefiting from any scholarship from the Jigawa State government.

One of the affected students, Malam Nasiru Hassan Malam-Madori, said: “Like myself, I secured admission into the Sudan University through the Internet. The emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje, donated the sum of N50, 000, one bureau-de-change member contributed to me a total of N30, 000 and my father, Alhaji Hassan bought me a ticket to Sudan for my study.  

“I attempted to secure admission into our universities including Bayero University Kano (BUK) twice but I could not secure it. Though I scored enough points, all my efforts failed. The minimum requirement was 200 points and I scored 228 points, but all in vain to enable me secure admission into our universities,” he noted.
