Speaking at the official unveiling ceremony of the magazine in Abuja, Senator Grace Folashade Bent (PDP, Adamawa State) described the publication as a voice for the voiceless and appealed to wealthy Nigerian families to support the cause of the publication by extending their care to either the vulnerable or disabled child in the society.
“It will go a long way if every wealthy Nigerians family will adopt a vulnerable child or person as their family member”, she said.
In her welcome address, the magazine’s publisher and Editor- in-Chief, Mrs Ronti Bosede Daudu, said the publication was conceived in order to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor by highlighting the decay in facilities and programmes of government.
“Poverty and poor implementation of government policy has…brought about decay in facilities and programmes such as health, education, social welfare, transportation, persons with disability, corruption, justice, sports, environment, town and country planning, inter-governmental relations etc and, consequently, lowered the quality of life of Nigerians, rich and poor alike. These are the real issues at stake”, she said.
Mrs Daudu, who is also the proprietor of All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF), said the magazine intended to focus issues that touch the lives of all Nigerians, encourage not only the concept of corporate social responsibility but also personal social responsibility.
The maiden edition, now on sale, focuses on children with disability and the cover story, with the headline: “Who Cares?” is about a family of two blind parents and their children who trek hundreds of kilometres to beg for months and return home with a pittance to earn a living.
Representatives of Kano, Bauchi, Katsina, Kaduna and Anambra state governors jointly launched the magazine with the sum of about one million naira.
