The return of the ombudsman czar in Kano

“We shall not be deterred. We shall triumph” – Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, at the Anti-corruption Situation Room by HEDA on August 19, 2019 in Kano.

The reinstatement of Comrade Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado as the chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission by a court of law in Kano, and the subsequent compliance to the historic judgement by the Kano State Government is the ultimate triumph of justice over injustice. The truth prevails always.

I am one of those who believe that hard work, selflessness and sacrifices should not be rewarded with injustice. A role model, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado can be described as the father of the anti-corruption crusade in Kano State.

I admire his courage. Because he knows corruption is endemic in our society, the late Professor Chinua Achebe compared how corruption is to Nigerians the way cocoyam is to goat. Often, those who dare to fight it end up as uncelebrated victims, yet Rimingado accepted the job and did it with passion.

Now, with the return of the Kano State anti-corruption champion, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, there is renewed hope not only among the staff of the commission but also among the ordinary citizens of the state. There’s no doubt that Muhuyi will help the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf-led government to recover looted public fund and property, fight wastages, misappropriation, embezzlement, kickback and therefore protect the scarce public resources from being stolen by devilish public and private officials.
